What "Reviewed" Actually Means on Delegatoo (And Why It Matters)

We don't use the word "vetted." Here's the honest explanation of what we check — and what we leave to you.
A lot of VA platforms claim their talent is "vetted." It's a word that's been so overused it's lost most of its meaning. Sometimes it means a rigorous skills assessment. Sometimes it means a profile was glanced at by someone before it went live.
We use the word "reviewed" on Delegatoo deliberately, because we want to be specific about what that means.
What we actually check
Identity and authenticity. We verify that the person behind the profile is real, that their work history is genuine, and that the profile isn't fabricated or duplicated. Fake profiles are a real problem on open marketplaces. We address it at the door.
Communication ability. We look at how a VA communicates — in their profile, in their intro clip, and in any initial interaction. Can they write clearly? Can they express themselves in a way that will work for your clients and your workflows? This is the most important practical skill for most VA roles and it's the first thing we assess.
Baseline competence. We look at experience, tools they've used, and the types of work they've done. We're not running a certification exam. We're checking that the profile represents someone who's actually done this kind of work before.
Readiness to work with clients. Some VAs are great but clearly still building toward client-facing work. We list VAs who are ready now — not those who are almost ready.
Our review process is designed to give you a signal, not make decisions for you. You still need to interview, test, and decide. We just make sure you're starting from a list of real, qualified people instead of an unfiltered marketplace.
What we don't claim to do
We're not a staffing agency. We don't run technical assessments for every specialty. We don't claim every VA is the perfect fit for every role. That judgment is yours to make — and we trust you to make it. Our job is to make that judgment faster and lower-risk.
Why the distinction matters
If a platform claims every freelancer is "thoroughly vetted" but lets anyone sign up, the word is doing marketing work, not informational work. We'd rather tell you exactly what we check and let you decide if that's enough for your needs.
For most founders hiring a VA for the first time, it is. You still interview. You still start with a small task. You still build trust over time. We just removed the step where you sort through unverified profiles wondering if anyone is legitimate.
