How to Write a VA Profile That Gets You Hired Fast

Your Profile Is Doing a Job Before You Speak
Your Delegatoo profile is answering the question every hiring business owner has when they're browsing: "Can I trust this person with my work?" A strong profile builds that trust immediately. A weak one, no matter how talented you are, gets scrolled past.
Start With Your Introduction Video
Delegatoo allows you to include a 30-second introduction clip. Clients are hiring a person they'll communicate with regularly. The video lets them hear your voice, see your confidence, and get a feel for your personality before they've read a single word. Cover your name and what kind of VA you are, one or two specific skills, and a quick statement about what working with you looks like. Avoid reading from a script, poor lighting, or leading with your background instead of your value.
Write a Bio That Leads With the Client, Not Yourself
Most VAs write bios that describe themselves. The strongest bios describe what the client gets.
Weak: "I am an experienced virtual assistant with a background in administration looking for long-term clients."
Strong: "I help small business owners clear their inboxes, stay on top of their calendars, and get back hours every week. My clients describe me as proactive, detail-oriented, and easy to work with."
List Your Skills and Tools Specifically
Don't write "proficient in Microsoft Office." Write out exactly what you know: Google Workspace, Asana, Trello, ClickUp, Notion, Slack, Zoom, Canva, Calendly, HubSpot. The more specific you are, the more search-friendly your profile becomes. Clients often search for specific tools.
Choose the Right Niche Tags
Pick the two or three niches where you're strongest: healthcare customer support, real estate VA, social media management, AI automation support, bookkeeping and invoicing, or video editing and content production. A niche focus makes you easier to find and signals genuine expertise.
Mention Availability and Response Time
State your hours clearly: "Available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm EST" and "I typically respond within 2 hours during business hours." This reassures clients and removes ambiguity before it becomes an issue.
Add a Portfolio or Work Samples
Even if you're new, create sample work: a mock content calendar, a sample inbox organisation system, or a set of email templates. Link to a Google Drive folder or a simple portfolio page. Even three solid examples can make the difference between a client reaching out and moving on.
